One of the biggest pitfalls in health is to let our bodies or minds become so habituated to unhealthy habits that we are no longer aware of what we’re doing. We have a tendency to get so used to unhealthy habits that we simply don’t realize what we are doing is wrong.
That’s why when I was a child I would get so bored with TV that I would spend hours and hours watching the same old shows, but I never thought to get the same old shows back. Now that I’m older, the internet has become a huge deal in my life. I am constantly finding new things to do online, but to keep up with the pace of what is happening, I’ve lost the habit of reading the newspaper, or magazines, or books.
I think this is partially due to technology, but I think it also has to do with the fact that we become attached to our technology. If I am not actively using something, I don’t think of it as a part of me, but as something that I just need to think about or check, that I am just using. But if I check it every night, then I get a little tired with myself and become lazy, and stop checking.
I think we also become attached to the things we use, and these become ways of just checking that we are still connected to it. For example, I am not always able to get into the habit of reading the newspaper or the magazines I find interesting, but I have been known to just open up the newspaper or magazine and read it while I watch TV. Of course, when this happens, I might just change the channel.
Technology is a way of connecting us to the things we use, so it makes sense that we end up attached to it. It wouldn’t be long before we would be asking for things we could put on our phone or computer. In my opinion, we should be checking our phones more often. We should also be checking newspapers more often.
